Good morning.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
Hosea 4:6
This week’s point: A government can write a shutdown order. It cannot write a new human heart. God gave people free will. A real off switch would need that will taken away, or every person on earth to agree and stay agreed. AI is here. It keeps coming. Learn it. Direct it. Do not wait for a button that will never hold.
You have seen a house with a breaker box in the garage. One switch, one room goes dark. People talk about AI like that now, as if Sacramento can walk to a wall, flip a lever, and the whole world of models goes quiet. That picture is too small for the thing we are living in. This cup is not for panic. It is a clear look at why the lever is not the plan, and why knowledge still is.
The Switch on the Wall That Cannot Hold the House
On September 18, California’s governor signed an executive order that tells a new group of experts to study a “kill switch” for frontier AI. Two months on the clock. Shutdown capability. Third-party safety plans aimed at the biggest labs, including OpenAI and Anthropic. The idea is old wine in a new bottle. In 2024 the state nearly passed SB 1047, a bill with a similar shutdown dream. The governor vetoed it then. This week he asked the working group to look again.
Read the order if you want the legal language. The public story is simpler. Officials want a way to turn the most powerful models off if they start doing harm at scale. Newsrooms called it an emergency switch. Some people slept better hearing the word. Some people who actually use these tools every day heard something else: a promise that sounds like control and behaves like delay.
Here is the hard truth in plain words. An AI kill switch is one of the most useless ideas in the world if you think it can stop the race. God gave us free will. For a true global off switch, someone would have to take that will away, or every human being on earth would have to agree and stay in agreement. That has never been the story of nations, companies, or even families. One lab can pause. Another will ship. One country can write a rule. Another will keep training. The models keep coming, keep improving, keep evolving.
The race for AI is inevitable. Arguing only whether it should exist will not stop it. Not learning while it runs can hurt you.
Noah did not get a vote on the rain. He got a call to build. The men of Issachar “understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do” (1 Chronicles 12:32). Proverbs 22:3 says the prudent see danger and take refuge. Watching a working group for two months is not the same as taking refuge. Refuge, for a believer, looks like literacy, a written desk, and a Spirit who still leads you as an individual. If the Spirit is leading you here with AI For Christians, build your Ark. Do not sit in the bleachers waiting for a lever that the whole earth will never keep flipped.
Safety work is not the enemy. Independent audits can be wisdom. Naming who is accountable when a model hurts someone is wisdom. Pretending a state can freeze the whole field while free people keep inventing is a different claim. Last week we talked about a researcher who walked off a careful lab because the systems were getting better at getting better. This week the state answers with a switch. Hear both. Do not baptize either as prophecy.
Let the Holy Spirit give you the capacity to judge AI. Only true believers, only those filled with the Holy Ghost, will be truly able to judge it, and it will not be by the work alone. It will be by the spirit.

Our take: Do not mock people who want brakes. Do not pretend a kill switch is discipleship. Free will is still on the table. The race is still the race. Keep Christ on the throne. Use the tools. Write your own stop rules for your house. The state’s two-month study is news. Your desk is the work.
Two Capitals, Two Levers, Same Unfinished Race
On September 23 the Los Angeles Times framed what many already felt: Washington and Sacramento are pulling the AI rope in opposite directions. At the United Nations this week, the president said he would not let a “globalist scheme” spoil the AI party, brushing past the fear that the tech could run amok. Days earlier, California’s governor signed the order that speeds safety oversight and studies an emergency shutdown for the biggest model makers. One side wants the party louder. One side wants a switch on the wall. Both are still arguing about control from the top while the tools keep shipping into ordinary hands.
You do not need a law degree to see the pattern. When leaders fight about who owns the lever, the believer’s job is still the same: know the times, refuse fear, learn the tools the Spirit leads you toward, and refuse to outsource your judgment to any capital. The race is not waiting for their agreement.

AFC Tool of the Week: ElevenLabs
This week’s tool is ElevenLabs (elevenlabs.io). It is a real product you open and work in: AI text-to-speech, voice cloning you control, narration, dubbing, and audio production. Free to start. You type words. It speaks them in a voice you choose. You stay the steward of what goes public.
Why it fits this week: capitals can study a kill switch for two months. You still need a desk that helps you speak clearly while the race runs. You can put Scripture, a short teaching, a testimony, or a course line into a clear voice and listen before you post. That is literacy you practice this morning, not a fantasy off switch.
How to start (five quiet steps):
- Go to elevenlabs.io and create a free account.
- Open Text to Speech. Paste one short paragraph you already own (a verse note, a testimony line, a course tip).
- Pick a library voice or clone only with clear permission.
- Download the audio and listen once before you share.
- Keep a written script offline. The file is output. The truth stays in your mouth and your heart. Never clone a voice you do not have the right to use.
Ark angle: A switch for the whole internet is a fantasy. A written line and a voice you approve is a real brake. Free will stays yours. The tool stays on a short leash.

Scripture + AI Insight
Hosea 4:6. People still perish for lack of knowledge. This week the knowledge is that a switch on a wall cannot replace a will in a heart.
1 Chronicles 12:32. The men of Issachar understood the times. Watch the working group and the showdown between capitals. Do not freeze. Ask the Spirit what you ought to do.
Proverbs 22:3. The prudent see danger and take refuge. Refuge is a written desk and a tested tool you open yourself, not a two-month study you never read.
Galatians 5:13. You were called to freedom. Do not use freedom as an excuse. Use it to serve. Free will is why no global off switch will hold, and why your yes still matters.
